Project Description
A private group company with large interests in micro hydro projects, refractory and other products, proposed to convert their existing boiler fuel operations from pet coke to biomass. The biomass procured from nearby industries that generated wood chip wastes. The 200 kW gasiferwas installed to generate producer gas suitable to fire the furnace. Initially the company replaced about 70% of pet coke used with wood chips, and scaled up to 100% by the third year by introducing oxygen lancing technology. ENSYDE conducted the entire CDM accreditation process, including development of PIN, PDD, assisting in validation and stakeholder consultation.
Impact: The project reduced 32,486 tonnes of CO2e over 10 years.
