Description: ENSYDE identified and implemented a project to reduce 20 tonnes of carbon emissions generated from travel conducted by an organ donor. The project implemented at a kitchen that prepares mid day meals for 4000 school children using firewood for cooking was replaced partly by solar thermal system. The kitchen uses about 250 kg of firewood per working day generating about 72.5 tonnes of CO2/y. This project will offset 20 tonnes of CO2/y.

Impact: The project reduces 20 tonnes of carbon emissions; reduces the need for firewood;  reduces particulate matter emissions from burning of firewood and cost to the NGO that manages the kitchen.
